So I moved my motion sensor detector back inside. with it I brought one of the uninstalled sensors and the rest of the cable. I got everything set up so I’m duplicating the environment almost exactly. So far it has … Continue reading
I am disappointed at the moment. For the past couple of days my sensor detector has hung – it won’t even send its watchdog packet (which is how I noticed it was no longer working). I’m baffled. It ran for … Continue reading
Over the past couple of mornings, I have installed the motion detector and two sensors. I am a little disappointed with their sensitivity. The specs say 30′. They work at 30′ only if the motion is very exaggerated. If you … Continue reading
Here are the PIR motion detectors in their final housings. The housings were made of wood and painted the same color as the garage so they won’t stick out too much.
This is the case for the Arduino microcontroller that detects signals from the PIR motion detectors. When it senses motion at any of 5 possible detectors, it sends a network packet to a Raspberry Pi that will respond to the … Continue reading
The motion detector circuit board is done. I start on the case tomorrow. BTW, my surveillance system caught its first prowler. I have a great picture of the guy that broke into a neighbor’s car. Now hopefully someone at the … Continue reading
Here is the schematic for the detector. Very, very simple thanks to the Arduino Nano that does all of the work.
I recently purchased an ethernet shield on ebay for the Arduino Nano for my motion detector project. The nano has a very small form factor and can be put on a PCB which was my reason for choosing it for … Continue reading
The sensor array is working – anytime motion stops or starts it sends out status packets on the network. I’ll use my new Raspberry Pi to process the messages and send email and/or an audible alarm.
